A professor of mine back in college said that when we, in Asia, used the term “The East”, we shouldn’t be referring to ourselves but North/South America. I understand standardizing the terms to avoid confusion, but I can’t help but wonder, what if Asia were “the center”?

Nice try. The “center” is based off the Prime Meridian in Greenwich, England, nothing more.
